Improved version of the QCTP
After reducing the height of the top slide by 6 mm there was more height available at the top of the slide. This permitted the tool post to be redesigned a little. The new toolpost was machined out of a solid piece of 50 mm round bar as shown above. The step has been replaced by a 4 mm flange at the bottom of the post. This provides for a much greater variation in the height that the toolholder can be set. The hole in the flange is positioned on the same radius as the height adjustment screw. The height adjuster screw for the tool not in use should be located over the hole when the toolholder is placed on the post. The flange is free to rotate so the toolholder can be positioned at any angle rather than being restricted to slightly less than 180 degree movement for the previous QCTP. I also replaced the nut and cone with a dedicated screw , shown above, that could be operated just with a tommy bar.
